Sea Aire Motel was built in 1950 and is still family owned and operated.  Many famous people have stayed at the motel, few as famous as the Mercury 7 Astronauts (the first 7 test pilots to become the first Astronauts in the USA).  World champion surfer Kelly Slater, who has been crowned ASP World Tour Champion a record 11 times, including 5 consecutive titles in 1994–98 has also stayed at the Sea Aire Motel.
